A few useful things to know
What does an auspicious day mean?
The 吉 marker identifies a huángdào day in the traditional twelve-guardian cycle. The daily almanac also lists suitable (宜) and avoided (忌) activities, which can differ even on an auspicious day. These are folk traditions with regional variations, not predictions. Festival dates do not indicate official days off.
Is a lunar year the same as a Gregorian year?
No. The lunar year begins at Chinese New Year, which falls in January or February. An early January birthday may still belong to the previous lunar year.
Which dates can I convert?
The supported Gregorian range is January 1, 1901 through December 31, 2100. A lunar date is accepted only when its Gregorian equivalent falls inside this range. The first supported Gregorian days belong to lunar year 1900.
Does my time zone change my result?
No. Your selected date is a calendar date and is not shifted across time zones. Only the live “today” display uses a reference time zone: China Standard Time, UTC+8.
Why might a distant future date change?
When an estimated new moon is very close to midnight, small astronomical adjustments can change the assigned date. See the Hong Kong Observatory’s notes for examples in 2057, 2089 and 2097.
