Start with a real moment.

A friend’s birthday. A festival you’ve heard about. A name you want to understand. Chinese Moments helps readers explore these everyday connections to Chinese culture.

This edition brings together a lunar calendar converter, a zodiac calculator, twenty-six festivals across China’s communities, thirty name examples and three Mandarin phrase guides. Tools run locally, without a login.

Simple enough to take with you.

The offline download includes every page, image, font, date table and audio file. Unzip the package and open index.html in a browser. Browsers that restrict local audio or fonts can use the included local server script.

When served over HTTPS or localhost, the web edition also stores its pages and assets for offline use after the service worker finishes preparing them.

An honest note about this edition

This first edition was built from the project’s product specification and keyword research. Writing and illustrations were created with AI assistance. We do not claim that an expert, native-speaker panel or named editor has reviewed them.

Date logic has automated checks and reference fixtures from the Hong Kong Observatory. Language, naming interpretations and synthetic pronunciation files still require human editorial review. Review records in the project identify that work as pending.

Chinese Moments is published at chinesemoments.com. The downloadable edition includes the same content and source notes. Publication does not mean that human editorial review is complete.

What we don’t promise

Zodiac descriptions are cultural associations. Name meanings are learning aids. Neither predicts character, fortune or compatibility. Festival dates do not automatically determine public holiday schedules.

We aim to explain variations where they matter, and link the sources behind factual claims. If a correction is needed, the project owner can update the structured content and its review record before rebuilding the site.
